Suggested Tools For Installation

  • Utility knife – trims excess screen mesh and spline
  • Roller knife/roller tool – helps install the spline securely into the track channel
  • Chop saw or hand saw – cuts aluminum Mini Track pieces to size
  • Power drill – secures the track system to porch framing
  • Rubber mallet – helps seat spline evenly without damaging the screen system

A roller tool and rubber mallet are recommended for the cleanest installation results, while the remaining tools are standard for most porch screening projects. Mini Track does not mount on the facing surfaces of porch structures so trim on the interior and exterior of your porch can be painted to match your architectural design.

Choosing Your Screen Mesh

Choose the perfect screen mesh for your porch's specific needs. Your Mini Track kit does not include screen mesh so you can choose the best screen for porch applications based on your climate, budget and visibility preferences.

Standard fiberglass screening works well for most climates and budgets. For enhanced visibility and airflow, consider BetterVue invisible screen. Pool & Patio Screen offers superior durability in high-traffic areas. For maximum insect protection in areas with small bugs, No-See-Um Screen provides the finest mesh available.

For contractors and larger projects, request a bid.

Calculating Your Mini Track Needs

Calculating Your Mini Track Needs is simple for most screen porch kits and DIY porch projects. Measure the perimeter of each opening you plan to screen (height plus width, times 2). Add these measurements together and divide by 8 feet to determine how many Mini Track sticks you need.

We recommend ordering 10-15% extra material to account for cuts and future repairs. For complex installations with multiple openings, contact us for a free quantity consultation.
