New Metro Screenworks Commercial Stars Howie Mandel

Howie Mandel is talking about our custom window screens, and the reason why is simple! Our screens are built to your window's exact measurements, and seal out insects in a way that no standard store-bought size can.

Take 30 seconds to watch the commercial, and then we will walk you through what makes a custom window screen different from the one you would grab at a home improvement store.

What Are Custom Window Screens?

Custom window screens are made to the specifications of your window rather than to a standard size off a shelf. Here at Metro Screenworks, we build each one to within 1/16" of the dimensions you give us, with your choice of frame color, screen mesh, and hardware.

We have been manufacturing and supplying screens this way since Randall Wilson founded the company in 1979, and we are still family owned and operated. Over one million screens later, our fit accuracy rate is 99% or better.

Why Won't a Store-Bought Screen Fit My Window?

Pre-made screens at the big home improvement chains only come in a handful of sizes. If none of them match your opening exactly, the screen will not sit the way it should, and that little gap along the edge is all an insect needs.

No matter the age or brand of your windows, each one will vary in size, even if it is only by a fraction of an inch. Older homes settle over time, and window systems get discontinued, which means the original manufacturer may not be around to make you a replacement. A custom screen sidesteps all of that.

What Can You Customize on Your Window Screen?

Quite a lot, actually. When you order complete window screens from us, you choose:

  • Size. Made to your measurements within 1/16".
  • Frame color. Black, white, beige, almond, bronze, or silver, so your screens match your trim.
  • Screen mesh. Standard fiberglass, solar, pollen, and specialty options. If you want more of your view, BetterVue offers 40% more visibility and airflow and UltraVue offers 50%.
  • Hardware. Plunger bolts, corner springs, and pull tabs, depending on how your screen needs to mount and come out.

Our standard screen frame is a 3/4" profile, and other frames are available by phone order. Not sure which mesh is right for your project? Browse our full selection of screen mesh types or ask us to send you a sample so you can see it in your own light first.

How Do I Measure for Custom Window Screens?

Measure your existing screen frame, not the window opening, and record the width and height to the nearest 1/16". Take your time with this part, because it is what your screen gets built to.

Pro Tip: Make sure the old frame is not bent before you measure. A bent frame gives you a bad number, and that number gets built into your new screen.

Our full window screen measuring guide walks through it step by step. Follow it, and if your screen still does not fit, we will work with you to make it right.
